The sixth (6th) Amendment of Contract 034A/03, which concerns the “purchase of sixteen (16) NH-90 Transport Helicopters – four (4) NH-90 Special Operation Helicopters and four (4) Medical Kits” has been signed between the Ministry of National Defence, represented by the General Director of the General Directorate for Defence Investments and Armaments, Lieutenant General (I) Theodoros Lagios (rtd), and NH Industries.

According to the relevant announcement, the latter company was represented by Mr. Ernst Heckert, head of Export Variants of NH Industries, and Mrs. Isabel Humby, head of the NH90 Manager for Greece program at Airbus Helicopters.

This development paves the way for the purchase of the remaining six NH-90 transport helicopters for the Hellenic Army.

In August 2003, an agreement was signed with NHI Industries for the purchase of 20 TTH type (Tactical Transport Helicopter) NH-90s. Of the 20 helicopters, 16 are tactical transport helicopters and 4 special operation variants. Also, collections will be supplied for the adaptation of 4 helicopters in ambulance configuration.

It is worth noting that the Greek Minister of National Defence, Nikos Panagiotopoulos, had referred to their acquisition, in response to a parliamentary question last December, where he stated, among other things, that: “regarding the UH-1H helicopter fleet has been designed and its gradual replacement is already being implemented, in combination with the recent acquisition of CH-47 and NH-90 helicopters “.

Finally, with the signing of the sixth amendment to the contract, it is expected that the payments of 120 million euros will be settled for the remaining 6 NH-90 helicopters.
