Since the war between Israel and Hamas broke out, Israeli EMTAN, a local firearms manufacturer, has increased its production of light arms to meet the urgent needs of the Israeli Defence Forces.

Company representatives have confirmed that their employees are working round the clock to fulfill the immediate requirements of the Israeli military during times of escalated tension.

EMTAN’s commitment to bolstering national defence extends beyond increasing production. Previously, the company disclosed that it supplied thousands of MZ4 rifles to the Israeli Defence Forces to enhance security measures across the nation, particularly in safeguarding the kibbutz communities.

The MZ4 rifle, a rifle that meets NATO caliber standards, is manufactured in accordance with international military specifications and is fully compatible with M4s and M16s.

The MZ-4 family assault rifles are powered by a direct impingement gas-system, while there is an advanced configuration of piston operation.

The company offers this rifle with different barrel lengths depending on the needs and users (7.5 inches, 11.5 inches, 14.5 inches, 20 inches, and even 16 inches and 18 inches).

This surge in the production and supply of MZ4 rifles underscores the pivotal role played by local arms manufacturers in enhancing Israel’s defence capabilities during critical times of conflict, ensuring that the nation’s Armed Forces are equipped with state-of-the-art weaponry.

Not long ago, the EMTAN MZ-4 assault rifle had undergone a number of rigorous tests in IDF units and had actually been approved for use by them. The tests included erosion fire (20,000 bullets), shooting in harsh environmental conditions, accuracy, and safety.

In practice, this does not mean that this assault rifle is immediately in service with IDF units, but that EMTAN is given the opportunity to participate in Israeli Ministry of Defence tenders for the supply of rifles to Israeli units and military agencies.

This is a significant step for EMTAN, which has not yet played a significant role in the Israeli light arms market. In contrast, the company is enjoying success around the world, as it has already won a large contract to supply thousands of MZ-4P rifles to the Spanish Civil Guard.
