“TALOS 2021” | The exercise of the Cyprus Air Force against the French Rafale has been completed – Photos

The exercise “TALOS 2021”, in which forces from the National Guard and the French Armed Forces participated, has been successfully completed.  

The exercise took place on the occasion of the presence of the French Navy’s Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier in the wider region of the Eastern Mediterranean.

The scenario of the exercise concerned two formations each consisting of four Rafale fighters flying at low altitude, with the aim of attacking military posts of the National Guard. The main purpose of the exercise was to control the air defence system of the Republic of Cyprus and to train the personnel of the National Guard in realistic conditions.

Through this joint exercise, the personnel of the National Guard and the French Forces are trained, while the exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of air force operations is considered particularly important. 

Exercise “TALOS”, which is part of the implementation of the defence cooperation program between Cyprus and France, took place in part of the land and airspace of the free territory of the Republic of Cyprus. 

The exercise was attended by the Minister of Defence, Mr. Charalambos Petridis, accompanied by the General Director of the Ministry, Mr. Andreas Loukas, and the Deputy Chief of the National Guard General Staff, Lieutenant General Costas Chrysiliou.
