With a total of 14 prosecution witnesses all judged unreliable, the permanent sergeant of the National Guard, accused of the tragic accident in which the 27-year-old contract soldier, Natalie Neofytou, lost her life in May 2022, during a military exercise at the Stavros Stylianides camp in Kornos, was found innocent by the Military Court by a unanimous decision.
As reported by omegalive, admissible facts do not suffice. In the light of all evidence, the Prosecuting Authority has failed to prove the charges against the accused, who is acquitted of the charges.
The court’s reports on the twelve out of the fourteen prosecution witnesses – all military – are noteworthy as they describe them as “dishonest” while the court speaks of witnesses with amnesia and selective memory.
