On Thursday, June 9, 2022, frigate NIKIFOROS FOKAS sailed in the port of Alexandria, Egypt following its replacement by frigate ADRIAS in the UNIFIL operation (United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon).
On Friday, June 10, 2022, after its departure, frigate NIKIFOROS FOKAS conducted a joint PASSEX (Passing Exercise) training with the Egyptian ENS TABA frigate in the wider sea area of the port of Alexandria. During the said exercise, items of communication, composition, and exchange of recognized area images, targeting, advanced maneuvering, and Maritime Interdiction Operations (MIO) were performed.
According to HNDGS, the above activity is part of the wider framework of international actions of the Hellenic Armed Forces and contributed, on the one hand, to the maintenance of the participating units’ operational capacity at a high level and, on the other hand, to the promotion of military cooperation between Greece and Egypt. The cooperation between the two countries is constantly improving, proving their role as pillars of stability and security in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East.
While frigate NIKIFOROS FOKAS is in Alexandria, a ceremonial visit of the Captain to the Commander of the Alexandria Naval Base, Rear Admiral Ayman Eldaly, took place.
