The Joint National Tactical Exercise of the National Guard “NIKITIS-DIMITRA 2022” kicks off today, June 6, 2022. The said exercise will be completed on Friday, June 10, 2022.   

According to the National Guard General Staff (GEEF), this large-scale exercise will be conducted across the free territory of Cyprus and will not involve any live fire, with the participation of Commands, Formations, Tactical Groups, and Units of the National Guard.   

During the exercise, the decision-making processes, and their implementation as instructions and orders in a period of tension, crisis, and operations will be examined, while the participating units will be trained in scenarios simulating real conditions. The operational scenarios examined during the exercise will be completed with the conduct of a number of final phases.   

All personnel of the National Guard will participate in the exercise, while reserves and national guards have been invited to attend certain parts of it. The exercise will also be attended by government agencies and services involved in providing support to the National Guard, under the coordination of the Central Emergency Planning Service (KYPSEA) of the Ministry of Defence.
