EDEX 2023 | Presentation of 12 companies from Armenia

A delegation led by Armenia’s Minister of High-Tech Industry, Robert Khachatryan, participated in the Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX) 2023.

Specifically, 12 Armenian defence and security companies presented their products, while Mr. Robert Khachatryan participated in the official opening ceremony on December 4. 

Mr. Khachatryan visited the national Armenian pavilion, talked to company representatives, was informed about the products and solutions showcased, and walked around the exhibition halls, where the latest defence and security technological solutions, equipment, and systems were presented.

ADX Systems 

ADX Systems is an electronic equipment manufacturer and solution provider both in the public and private sectors. One of the main products of the company is long-range GNSS Jammers. At EDEX, visitors had the chance to get informed about the J-04 long-range GNSS jamming and spoofing station.

ARM DEFENSE

ARM DEFENSE is a provider of high-quality Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to Armenian and international clients, both private and public. During the exhibition, the company presented a series of ballistic plates.

AIRWORKER

AirWorker, a Yerevan-based Armenian company, introduced its AW5R unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), an autonomous reconnaissance drone with a 3.5 kg takeoff weight and a wingspan of 1.65 meters. 

The 1.2-meter-long AW5R features a cruise speed ranging from 65 to 80 km/h and a maximum flight altitude of 4,000 m. Its electric engine enables a flight time of 60 to 80 minutes, with the capability to take off at wind speeds up to 10 m/s.

Designed for portability and ease of use, this UAV can be hand-launched and its maximum payload capacity of 0.3 kg is tailored for video camera equipment. The operational altitude is contingent on the selected camera. The drone also incorporates a parachute landing mechanism.

The company also offers the kamikaze UAV AW17 with the following technical characteristics:

  • Speed: 28 m/s
  • Maximum altitude: 4 km 
  • Launch phase: catapult
  • Payload: 3 kg 
  • Engine: electric propulsion

Last, the company’s portfolio includes the AW21 kamikaze UAV with the following technical characteristics:

  • Speed: 30 m/s
  • Maximum altitude: 3.5 km 
  • Launch phase: canister
  • Payload: 2 kg 
  • Engine: electric propulsion

APRICOT LLC

This company is a technology startup, which creates solutions based on virtual and augmented reality technologies adopted by the military for training purposes. This is particularly useful for training soldiers in combat situations, where they have to learn how to react accordingly.

The company provides:

  • Multiplayer simulators of various types of weapons
  • Shooting simulators from any type of weapons 
  • Simulators of RPGs, NLAW, Javelin, ATGMs, MANPADS, and various types of small arms
  • Assault Room
  • Simulators for training assault units
  • Simulators of various types of heavy and light military equipment
  • Simulators for training crews of various types of military equipment.

ARMAEROSYSTEMS LLC

ArmAeroSystem (AAS) is a company that combines aerospace engineering, software, and AI for advanced UAVs. At its pavilion, the company exhibited an unnamed prototype of a loitering munition.

The launch takes place in a container installed on a pickup truck. One vehicle can transport 5 systems capable of fully autonomous swarm formation and intelligent missions operating in GPS-free environments.

ATG CJSC

“Advanced Technologies Group” is an engineering company that develops and manufactures innovative microwave equipment and technologies. The process includes the design of electronic and high-frequency components as well as antenna systems, the development of their mechanical and electromechanical units, their production, assembly, and final testing.

At EDEX, the company presented the Direction Finder DF-277 system, a device for determining the direction of the source of a radio signal as well as a GPS and Cellular signal-blocking tactical case.

INOGATE CJSC

INOGATE CJSC is a technology company dedicated to providing the UAV industry with cutting-edge software solutions and advanced optical tools. 

At EDEX, the company showcased a gimbal camera stabilizer.

LERNETSEE LLC

Founded in January 2022, LERNETSEE is a manufacturer and supplier of military footwear designed for use in mountainous terrain. It specializes in producing durable and comfortable footwear for soldiers, law enforcement officials, and other professionals.

MILCOM CJSC

Milcom is a company dedicated to the development of radar and communication means. 

At EDEX, the company presented the DD-Gun Pro, a system that neutralizes remotely-controlled unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) equipped with radio communications and surveillance cameras. The uniqueness of the DD-Gun Pro lies in its ability to securely control the drone, forcing it to either hover in the air until its batteries run out, land immediately, or return to its starting point.

The design of the DD-Gun Pro, reminiscent of a rifle, facilitates its use. It comes with an additional backpack, making it portable. The DD-Gun Pro operates across multiple frequency bands, from 433 MHz to 5850 MHz. Its range exceeds 4 km and it can operate in temperatures ranging from 20 °C to +55 °C. The rifle itself weighs 1.5 kg and the associated backpack 8 kg. The dimensions of the weapon are 1200×254 mm and it can operate continuously for one hour.

Apart from that, the company showcased a mock-up of its S Band Multi-Beam 3D Radar M4, a stationary system, which has a range of 350 km and can be transported in two trailers (trailer one for radar station and trailer two for Command/Power Station).

WINGER LLC

WINGER LLC is a company specializing in the Development, Automation, Mechanics, and Software Solutions for Machines, Industrial lines, Robotic mechanisms, and Technological processes. At EDEX, it presented software for rifle and pistol shooting simulation, which enables users to have access to immediate results on the shooting wall in both visual and data formats.

YEREVAN AEROSPACE ENGINEERING LLC

YAE is a company specializing in the development of control systems. The core of the engineering team consists of specialists, who have received education in aerospace universities, which has determined the main direction of expertise.

At the moment, the company is focused on creating unmanned systems.

At the said exhibition, the company presented BASE 6, a drone designed for reconnaissance and strike missions. It is equipped with night and day vision cameras as well as a laser rangefinder. The system also integrates a communication system, which, according to the company, is protected against electronic interference.

  • Weight: 28 kg
  • Speed: 50 km/hour
  • Endurance: 40 min / 8 kg, 70 min / 2 kg
  • Maximum altitude: 4 km

ZGST LLC

ZGST LLC, established in 2021, is active in the Personal Protection Equipment design and production domain. Its gear and garment are tailored-made solutions with full-range field tests in specific environmental conditions and requirements. ZGST also provides reliable partnership in the regional representation of PPE producers.
