Once again, the Greek company ALTUS LSA made an impressive presence at the International Defence and Security Exhibition DEFEA 2023 in Athens.

The company from Chania presented the new innovative heavylifter UAV ATLAS 8H. ATLAS 8 also works in a hybrid mode, with an electric motor as well as a gasoline engine.

It can carry as many as 24 60 mm caliber mortar shells, which obviously gives great fire support capabilities to the Infantry fighting on the frontline. In addition, ATLAS 8 can transport other equipment or even platforms. The structure of the UAV allows it to be modified according to the user’s requirements.

ATLAS 8H technical characteristics:

  • Endurance: 25 minutes, 4 hours in hybrid version
  • Range: 20 km, 80 km in hybrid version
  • Payload: 40 kg

ALTUS LSA also presented the M3NTOR command and control station. M3NTOR is an innovative C3 mission and information management system, capable of controlling and navigating multiple drones. It has the ability to interconnect heterogeneous media such as drones, cameras, radar, etc., with the application of advanced artificial intelligence, designed for the requirements of the modern network-centric operational field.

The operator can directly control all media connected to the system. The demonstration we watched was impressive as the operator controlled drones in Crete from the DEFEA exhibition area!

In addition to this, ALTUS presented the hybrid UAS EDOMON, which, as we first informed you, was recently acquired by the Cyprus Police (Port and Maritime Police). EDOMON is designed to operate with minimal manpower requirements (2 people) and minimal footprint in adverse weather conditions, without the need for a runway.

EDOMON technical characteristics:

  • Take-off and landing: Vertical (VTOL – Vertical Take Off and Landing) – Fully automatic/autonomous and manual
  • Fuselage: Composite materials (3K carbon fiber) and stainless steel
  • Number and type of vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) motors: Four (4) electric motors
  • Wingspan: 3 meters
  • Total Length: 1.9 meters
  • Maximum take-off weight: 18 kg
  • Payload: 2.3 kg
  • Fuel capacity: 5 liters
  • Fuel type: 95 RON
  • Telemetry Range: Up to 54 Nautical Miles (100 km) LOS
  • Flight duration: 6 hours with the dual optical payload configuration offered
