The proposals of EDEK, which were accepted and have been included in the new state budget, were presented by the President of the Movement, Marinos Sizopoulos, today.
Among the proposals of EDEK, which were accepted and included in the state budget, is the inclusion of the necessary amount for the promotion of the Contract Non-Commissioned Officers (SYP) and volunteer NCOs of the National Guard.
According to information on our page, the promotions of SYP and volunteer NCOs are expected to take place in a short period of time, possibly in March. In addition, in 2021, new evaluations and promotions are expected to take place for Officers and NCOs of the Cyprus Army. Of course, everything depends on the approval of the revised state budget by the Parliament.
We remind you that, in December 2017, the Plenary Session of the Parliament unanimously voted the regulations for the NCOs, Contract Non-Commissioned Officers (SYP) and Volunteers so as to deal with all the lasting problems affecting the National Guard personnel.
Since then, the way has been paved for the smooth promotion of National Guard executives, who remained in the same rank for up to 15 years, while the conditions were created for meritocratic promotions, based on objective and measurable criteria.
In addition, the potential for the permanent positions of 52 Volunteer NCOs, who remained unregistered for many years, is now provided, while the future of Contract Non-Commissioned Officers is now secured so that they can be systematically promoted.
