The new Parliamentary Defence committee has not been convened yet, due to the objection of the Committee chairman and chairman of EDEK, Marinos Sizopoulos, for the participation of ELAM president Christos Christou.
Marinos Sizopoulos referred the issue to the Speaker of Parliament, Annita Dimitriou, since, as he said, a Member of Parliament who did not complete his military service was included in the Defence Committee. In view of the objection, Mr. Koulias referred the matter to the Selection Committee.
The composition of the new Defence Committee is as follows: Chairman of the Committee, Marinos Sizopoulos, Deputy Chairman, George Karoulas of DISY, and Haris Georgiadis and Efthymios Diplaros from DISY, Costas Costa, Giannakis Gabriel, Valentinos Fakontis from AKEL, Zacharis Koulias and Pavlos Mylonas from DIKO, Christos Christou from ELAM and Alekos Tryfonidis from Democratic Front (DIPA) are members.
Marinos Sizopoulos, according to his statements, asked to clarify the issue before the convening of the committee. We remind you that the tension was caused last Thursday, during the plenary session of the Parliament, chaired by Zacharias Koulias, during which the Presidencies and the distributions of the Deputies of the 16 regular Parliamentary and an ad hoc Committees composed for the Demographic as well as the members of the new Special Parliamentary Ethics Committee of the members of Parliament were appointed.
