National Security Council spokesman, John Kerby, clarified that the reference to the creation of a maritime corridor to provide greater amounts of humanitarian aid to Palestine is based on ongoing discussions between the US and the Republic of Cyprus.

Kerby emphasized that the discussion they are having about a possible naval option for humanitarian aid deliveries has to do with the recent discussions about the possible use of Cyprus in the likely partial implementation of this plan, but this idea is still premature while there is a lot of work yet to be done.

At this stage it cannot be considered certain that Cyprus will be called upon to contribute in any way, he added.

At the same time, the United States airdropped humanitarian aid packages into Gaza. Three aircraft dropped about 30,000 food packages with the assistance of the Jordanian Air Force. Nevertheless, the Red Cross emphasizes that these kinds of drops are a desperate solution as they cannot meet the needs of civilians.

And all this while the US officers hint that they are very close to an agreement on a six-week truce between Israel and Hamas. According to US sources, Israel has already agreed and the green light is still awaited from Hamas.
