Yesterday, Monday, April 26, the Russian army successfully tested the new A-235 PL-19 Nudol anti-ballistic missile. The test was carried out at the Sary-Shagan test site in Kazakhstan.

According to General Sergei Grabuk, Commander of the anti-missile unit of the Russian Aerospace Forces, the anti-ballistic missile engaged its target with high precision.

The A-235 PL-19 Nudol developed a speed of more than 3 km/s. The defensive shield offered by Nudol aims to repel enemy missiles at a range of up to 250 miles and at an altitude of 31 miles.

Nudol was designed by the state defence equipment company Almaz-Antey. Its use aims at the transport of conventional or nuclear warheads. “Nudol” can intercept an intercontinental ballistic missile as well as shoot down low-altitude satellites in orbit around the earth.

The deployment of a portable launcher and a transport vehicle under the deployment of Nudol commenced in the decade of 2010. The new anti-missile system aims to replace the A-135 “Amur” defence system deployed on the outskirts of Moscow.
