The Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Notis Mitarakis, is travelling to Pakistan today, Monday, where he will have talks with the political leadership of the country, “in order to strengthen bilateral cooperation in matters of combating illegal immigration and legal immigration issues,” as was mentioned in a relevant announcement of the Ministry.
The goal of the Greek side, it is noted, is to promote opportunities for legal immigration – especially seasonal workers – as a counterweight to the action of traffickers aiming at illegal arrival in Europe.
Last, issues of cooperation with Pakistan at the European Union level will be discussed.
