Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis sent a clear message about the terms of the dialogue with Turkey during a meeting he had earlier at the Maximos Palace with Yang Jiechi, a member of the Politburo and Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission of the Chinese Communist Party.

“As you know, in addition to the aggression of Turkey, our country also faces actions that challenge the United Nations Charter. Greece has never hidden that along with its rights it always defends good neighbourliness. I consider diplomacy to be the other side of my country’s power,” he said, noting that of President Erdogan’s many exaggerated abominations, he only keeps the one which speaks of dialogue. To this I respond with six words: The provocation stops, the discussions begin.”

Welcoming the Chinese official, the Prime Minister pointed out that his presence in Greece at this time “is becoming increasingly important, because China, as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, advocates the principles of international law.”
