From Monday 16 to Thursday 26 October 2023, and in the context of the wider planning of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS) in terms of international cooperation, the Hellenic Armed Forces participated in the Multinational Air Exercise “STEADFAST NOON 2023”. The said exercise was conducted under the direction of the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), General Christopher G. Cavoli.
“STEADFAST NOON 2023” is a LIVEX (Live Exercise) and, in fact, NATO’s largest exercise focusing on nuclear weapons operations, aiming to train on restationing/repositioning procedures of High Readiness (HR) Dual Capable Aircraft (DCA) in selected bases as well as on the procedures followed for the Support of Nuclear Operations With Conventional Air Tactics (SNOWCAT).
According to an announcement by the HNDGS, the exercise took place at Aviano, Ghedi, Trapani, and Gioia Del Colle Air Bases in Italy. Greece participated with 3 F-16 aircraft and the corresponding Hellenic Air Force support personnel as well as 1 Liaison Officer (LNO) in the staff conducting the exercise at the Aviano Base. Furthermore, personnel and aircraft from 13 countries of the Alliance also participated.
The participation of the Hellenic Armed Forces in “STEADFAST NOON 2023” has contributed to the promotion of the level of operational readiness and combat capability as well as to the upgrading of the multilayered military synergy of the Hellenic Armed Forces in an allied context.
