Elbit Systems announced that it was awarded a contract worth approximately $55 million to supply multi-layered ReDrone Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) to the Netherlands.

Under the said contract, which will be executed over a period of four years, Elbit Systems will supply several mobile, stationary, and deployed configurations of the said system along with a logistic support package and training.

The ReDrone Solution can be characterized as a C4I (Command, Control, Communication, Computer, and Intelligence) system, as it is comprised of Elbit Systems’ advanced DAiR Radar, signal (SIGINT), visual (VISINT) and acoustic intelligence sensors, and the Commander Open Architecture Panoramic Sight (COAPS-L) electro-optical (EO) payload, which all provide an enhanced integrated aerial picture and advanced forensics operating 24/7 with or without operators with a 360° coverage.

According to the company, it can also offer high-end electronic attack capabilities against multiple UASs simultaneously such as GPS/GNSS and communication channel jamming along with cyber radio frequency capabilities for neutralizing the UAS and safely landing it in designated areas, all fully controlled by a unified Command and Control system (C2).

Specifically, the system can detect, identify, classify, locate, track, and neutralize hostile UAS during day and night, both in urban and rural environments under various weather conditions, thus providing advanced protection to both military and civilian convoys, seaports and airports, borders, public events, power plants, and vessels.

The Dutch Defence Ministry mentioned that the CUAS systems will be deployed at the country’s air bases and the Den Helder naval port for defence against drones weighing up to 20 kg.

It also added that the CUAS systems help to protect the armed forces units and the main weapon systems from enemy action and can also be used to protect essential non-military infrastructure in the Netherlands.
