Cyprus Police | 1st Covid-19 Death Recorded

The Cyprus Police mourns today, as the much-respected colleague, Sergeant Stelios Panagiotou, 58 years old, formerly from Larnaca, has passed away. 

The sergeant served the police force with conscientiousness and devotion to duty for 24 consecutive years, in various departments and divisions, with many years of service to the Drug Enforcement Agency, while in recent years he served at the Larnaca Police Directorate.

According to an announcement by the Cyprus Police, the sergeant had contracted Covid-19 and had recently been intubated at the Nicosia General Hospital. He is the first member of the Police Force to lose his life due to the pandemic.

The leadership and members of the Police expressed deep sorrow and sincere condolences to the deceased’s family and relatives. Support for them, especially in these difficult times, is a given.

The funeral will take place next Monday, August 23, 2021, at 17.30 at the Church of Agia Marina in Mosfiloti.
