Cypriot paratroopers’ exercise in Egypt – Petridis at “July 3rd” base inauguration
As part of the implementation of the Bilateral Defence Cooperation Program of the Republic of Cyprus and Egypt, a group of paratroopers of the Special Forces Command travelled to Cairo. The paratroopers will participate in an advanced exercise in an indoor skydiving facility simulating free fall conditions.
In addition to the enhanced expertise it provides, the participation of our paratroopers in this exercise significantly contributes to increasing the operational capabilities of free fall teams. Furthermore, the implementation of training activities along with the implementation of the Defence Cooperation Program between Cyprus and Egypt, reflect the excellent cooperation between the Armed Forces of the two countries.
Meanwhile, Defence Minister Charalambos Petridis is leaving today for an official
visit to Egypt at the invitation of his Egyptian counterpart. During his visit, Mr. Petridis will attend the inauguration of the Naval Base “July 3rd” in the area of Marsa Matrouch.
The participation of the Minister in this ceremony is another tangible proof of the excellent relations between Cyprus and Egypt, in the fields of defence and security and the partnerships developed with friendly regional countries that aim at security and stability in the region.
