Cyber security officers training – “We take measures to protect our defence systems”

The seminar entitled “The role of the EU Cyber Ecosystem in the Global Cyber Security Stability” commenced today and will be completed on Thursday. The seminar takes place at the ZENON coordination center in Larnaca and is part of the actions of the European College Security and Defence ESDC in the field of Cyber Security, while it is jointly organized with the Digital Security Authority.
This training is offered to public officers and officials of EU Member States and third countries close to the EU.
The training focuses on the EU organisation and structure in cybersecurity matters through the presentations of the competent EU general directorates, EU operational organisations and its actions taken with international organisations such as the Hybrid Center of Excellence, Council of Europe and Eurocontrol.
In his address, the Defence Minister, Mr. Charalambos Petrides welcomed the participants to the seminar and thanked the organizers stressing that in recent years there are reports of threats and cyberattacks all too often. “Our defence plans now entail this aspect as well. We take measures to protect our defence systems. Cyberspace is global and we all have a common interest in keeping it safe,” said the Minister of Defence in his greeting.
The Deputy Minister of Innovation Research and Digital Policy, Mr. Kyriakos Kokkinos, the Commissioner for Regulation of Electronic Communications, Mr. George Michailidis and the Head of the European College of Security and Defence Mr. Dirk Dubois also addressed a greeting.
The training is attended by a total of 65 people (42 via physical attendance and 23 attend online), from Cyprus, Greece, France, Germany, Spain, Austria, Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Oman, Morocco and Algeria.
