Both family and friends bid farewell to the fallen pilot Christos Moulas who lost his life while on duty with co-pilot Pericles Stefanidis in the Canadair that crashed in the fire in Platanistos Karystos. The hero’s funeral took place at 11:00 in Gavalochori, Apokoronas, Chania.
The body of the fallen pilot arrived at the Holy Church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus a while ago. The funeral procession took place at 11:00 in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
Family and friends had gathered at the church to bid farewell to the pilot. The church forecourt was filled with wreaths sent by family, friends, and colleagues to the unfortunate Hellenic Air Force pilot.

At this point, it should be pointed out that Christos Moulas would become a father in a few months as his wife is four months pregnant. Therefore, the Parliament decided to adopt the unborn child of the unfortunate pilot, according to an announcement made by President Konstantinos Tasoulas.
The Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, announced the awarding of the Air Marshal insignia to the operators of the CL-215 firefighting aircraft, Flight Lieutenant Christos Moulas, and Pilot Officer Periklis Stefanidis.
