Army 2021 | Cyprus-Russia Military and Technical Cooperation

According to an announcement by the Ministry of Defence, the 5th Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Military and Technical Cooperation between Russia and Cyprus was held in Moscow on August 24 and 25, within the framework of the International Military Forum Army 2021. The meeting was attended by the General Director of the Ministry of Defence, Mr. Andreas Loukas, and the Deputy Chief of the National Guard General Staff (GEEF), Lieutenant General Costas Chrysiliou, together with other executives of the Ministry of Defence and the GEEF.

On the occasion of his visit to Moscow, the Director General of the Ministry of Defence met with the Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Government, General Alexander Fomin. The two sides discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation in the military sector and exchanged views on current regional security issues. 

Issues related to the military and technical cooperation between the Ministry of Defence and the Russian Federation were discussed within the Intergovernmental Committee and a relevant Cooperation Protocol was signed.

During the meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee, the Agreement for the extension of the techno-logistical support of the existing Russian-made weapon systems possessed by the National Guard was also signed by the Director General of the Ministry of Defence.
