According to a relevant announcement of ALTUS LSA based in Crete, an agreement has been signed with the Hellenic Navy for the procurement of UAV helicopters which will be operated from vessels of the Hellenic fleet.
The agreement provides for the acquisition of 5 A900 UAV helicopters for maritime surveillance, designed and manufactured by Alpha Unmanned Systems in Spain.
The UAVs will be operated from Greek frigates and are expected to enter service in April 2022.
A900 Specifications:
- Automatic VTOL from moving vessels
- 4 hours of autonomous flight
- Operational radius of action: 25 km
- Maximum altitude: 10,000 feet (3048 meters)
- Speed: 58 km/h
- Maximum payload: 6 kg (in multiple storage spaces)
- On-board generator with up to 150W for mission payloads
- GPS Denied Navigation
- Safer Autorotation with freewheel
- NATO STANAG compliant
The participation of ALTUS in the program, in addition to the procurement of UAVs, also lies in the training of the Hellenic Navy and the Hellenic Aviation Authority personnel on this type of UAV, the operation and maintenance of the system and the completion of the integration of the relevant systems in the Hellenic Navy warships. In addition, the agreement provides for support and maintenance.
