The agreement with Israeli SIBAT for Air Force’s training with ELBIT Systems was signed at the General Directorate for Defence Investments and Armaments (GDDIA)
With the authorization of the Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, the General Director of GDDIA, Air Marshal (ret.) Theodoros Lagios and the Director of the International Defence Cooperation Directorate of the Isreali Ministry of Defence (SIBAT), Brigadier (ret.) Yair Kulas signed on Friday, April 16, 2021 a Transnational Defence Agreement between Greece and Israel for the establishment of an International Flight Training Center at the 120th Air Training Wing in Kalamata.
The Agreement provides a final solution to the long-standing problem of training of the Air Force Academy with sufficient flight hours and state-of-the-art training facilities, while it also strengthens the strategically important cooperation between Greece and Israel.
The Military Attaché of the State of Israel for Greece, Colonel Yossi Pinto, the President and CEO of “Elbit Systems” Mr. Bezhalel (Butzi) Mahlis and Israeli Delegation attended the signing ceremony.
During the meeting, all the necessary measures were taken against the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
