The 5th Round of the Greece – US Strategic Dialogue kicks off in Washington today Friday, about a year after the conclusion of the 4th Round that took place in Athens.
For this reason, the Greek Foreign Minister went to Washington yesterday, Thursday, where he had a series of contacts.
Today, Mr. Gerapetritis will have a meeting at the State Department with the Secretary of State of the United States of America, Anthony Blinken.
After the meeting, the two Ministers will announce the opening of the 5th Greece – US Strategic Dialogue, which will be attended by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alexandra Papadopoulou, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Diplomacy and External Affairs, Costas Fragogiannis.
The topics addressed by the 5th Strategic Dialogue are regional developments, defence and security, humanitarian challenges and disaster readiness, energy, and the environment, law enforcement and counter-terrorism, trade, and investment as well as the ties between the two peoples.
According to Euronews, the two Foreign Ministers will make joint statements to the press, while a signing ceremony of Greece’s accession to the “Artemis” space cooperation agreements will be held by Mr. Gerapetritis.
During his stay in Washington, Mr. Gerapetritis will address the Wilson Center event “Countdown to Our Ocean, Greece 2024: An Ocean of Potential” and will participate in a discussion with the US President’s Special Envoy on Climate, John Kerry.
Finally, Mr. Gerapetritis will be an official guest speaker at the Georgetown University event entitled “Challenges and opportunities: The future of Europe, EU-US relations, the Middle East and the role of Greece in the global arena”.
