UK Defence Secretary, Ben Wallace, met with his Italian counterpart, Guido Grosseto, and agreed to expand the two countries’ defence cooperation.

In particular, the two signed a declaration of intent for bilateral defence cooperation, which gives special weight to the cyber domain, space, and the projects on which the two countries are working together, such as the 6th generation fighter aircraft development program.

In fact, Mr. Wallace visited the facilities of the Leonardo company in Turin, where he discussed with the managing director the progress of the work being done on Italian soil in respect of the new aircraft.

It is recalled that at the beginning of December, Italy, Britain and Japan had announced the merge of their programs for a 6th generation aircraft, with the aim of the new system making its maiden flight in 2035. The British BAE, the Italian Leonardo, and Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries led the project.
