According to an announcement of the General Directorate of Defence Equipment and Investments (GDDIA), a Framework Agreement 002B / 21 was signed for the “Procurement and Initial Support of High-Speed Personnel Transport Crafts”.
This agreement was entered into on December 14, 2021, at GDDIA and it provides for the acquisition of 41 MUNIN S-1200 type high-speed passenger transport crafts and the provision of initial support for 7 years with VIKING NORSAFE LIFE – SAVING EQUIPMENT HELLAS S.A. being the counterparty company through its legal representative, Mr. Ioannis Georgiadis.
The agreement concerns Norsafe’s high-speed patrol craft “Viking Norsafe S-1200 Armored “MUNIN S-1200”. The crafts will be delivered to the Special Forces Training Centre in Nea Peramo, Attica and the 7-year framework agreement (main acquisition contract) amounts to 15,997,845.97 euros. In addition, the agreement provides for the annual maintenance of all delivered crafts until all 41 of them are delivered to the Hellenic Army.
The Norsafe S-1200 patrol craft can develop high speeds of more than 65 knots and can carry a crew of 14 special operators. It can also be equipped with a remote-controlled weapon station (RCWS). Apart from these the craft:
- Is ideal for all types of search and rescue (SAR) missions, patrols, and other special operations
- Operates away from the base for extended periods of time
- Has a flexible design that can be adapted to the user’s needs
- Features state-of-the-art low-radar technology
