Following the incident, Russian media reported on a possible friendly fire incident, suggesting that the two-seater Su-30 had indeed been hit by a Su-35 fighter jet.
“After the mission, a Su-35S was sent for regular training flights, mainly to “train” in air collision with a Su-30SM. The missiles had been removed from the Su-35 but its artillery had not been disarmed, Russian media reported.
The Su-35S and Su-30 executed drills in aerial interceptions where the Su-35S was supposed to attempt a photo mission, but instead it fired a barrage of fire at the Su-30, shooting it down. The Su-30 crew was successfully ejected and the pilot of the Su-35S was shocked after the incident,” reports the TASS news agency
This is not the first accident that has occurred during the exercises of the Russian armed forces. During exercises on September 20, a Russian T-90A tank was hit and destroyed by an anti-tank missile.
