Manufactured in Kopřivnice, the Pandur 8×8 EVO represents a significant advancement in the armoured vehicle market, combining enhanced crew protection, firepower, and mobility.
Developed by TATRA DEFENCE VEHICLE (TDV) in collaboration with GDELS-Steyr, this next-generation combat vehicle is designed to meet the evolving demands of modern warfare while ensuring maximum safety and operational efficiency.
According to the manufacturer, the Pandur 8×8 EVO features a modular design with a welded monocoque hull, providing adaptable ballistic and mine protection in line with STANAG 4569 standards.
Its newly designed hull improves resistance against explosive threats, while an upgraded underbody structure and repositioned fuel tanks enhance overall survivability. Additionally, an advanced filtration and ventilation system offers protection against chemical, biological, and nuclear hazards, ensuring the safety of both crew and transported personnel.
Powered by a Cummins ISL 540 six-cylinder turbo diesel engine, the Pandur 8×8 EVO delivers 405 kW of power and 1900 Nm of torque. Paired with a ZF Ecomat six-speed automatic transmission, it achieves a top speed of 105 km/h and boasts a range exceeding 600 km. As stated by TATRA, this high-performance powertrain ensures agility and reliability across various terrains and combat conditions.
The vehicle’s combat effectiveness is defined by the UT30MK2 unmanned turret, developed by the Israeli defence company Elbit Systems and fully integrated into the Czech production process.

The turret is armed with a 30mm Mk.44 Bushmaster II cannon, featuring an elevation range of -15 to +60 degrees, and a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun. Furthermore, a dedicated launcher for two Spike-LR/LR2 anti-tank guided missiles ensures the capability to engage heavily armoured targets with precision.
Advanced electro-optical sights with automatic target tracking and “hunter-killer” functionality enable the commander to identify threats while the gunner engages them.
Equipped with high-resolution daytime TV and thermal imaging cameras, the system ensures optimal targeting in all visibility conditions. Furthermore, the turret can be fitted with the Iron Fist LC active protection system and the Elaws laser warning system, enhancing defensive capabilities against various threats.
Following a crew-centered approach, the Pandur 8×8 EVO provides a spacious and ergonomic interior, accommodating three crew members and seven additional soldiers. Enhanced air-conditioning and heating systems ensure comfort in extreme environments, while its optimised layout allows for efficient troop deployment without compromising protection.
With full-scale production localised in the Czech Republic, the Pandur 8×8 EVO stands as a testament to the country’s growing defence capabilities, solidifying its role as a key asset for the Czech Army.
