Eighty four members of the Paphos Police Department and the fire service were tested with rapid antigen tests yesterday, Thursday. Not a single case was detected, according to Spokesman and head of the Paphos Police Station, Michalis Ioannou.

In his statements to CNA, Mr. Ioannou stated that 84 members of the Paphos Police Department, of which 55 are members of the Paphos Police Directorate, 3 members of the Foreigners and Immigration Service, 4 members of the Cyprus Intelligence Service (KYP), 4 members of the Paphos Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN), 1 member of the Game Service working at the Paphos Police Department and 17 members of the fire service tested negative in the rapid tests carried out today at the Paphos Police. Testing is carried out in the framework of protection measures against the spread of COVID-19 aiming to protect the health of Police personnel and public health.

Testing the members of the Force with the method of rapid antigen detection is carried out on a nationwide basis and in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, he added.

Rapid tests, he said, are carried out by a mobile unit operating at the Paphos Traffic Police. Our goal, said Mr. Ioannou, is to comply with the hygiene protocols in order to ensure the health of the members of the Paphos Police Department, so that they can perform their duties and serve the public with more safety and health.

The Spokesman of the Paphos Police Department described the health of the police officers as of paramount importance, noting that the sooner the positive cases are detected, the more positively this acts in prevention, he concluded.
