Nikos Anastasiadis | The informal five-party meeting is crucial for Cyprus
The Greek-Cypriot side is going to Geneva for the informal five-party conference with determination and political will to assist in creating the conditions for the resumption of substantive negotiations for a solution to the Cyprus problem, said the President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis, describing the meeting as crucial for Cyprus.
“This is a really crucial meeting for Cyprus,” President Anastasiadis told reporters during a flight to Geneva. The President of the Republic and the accompanying mission arrived in Geneva at 13:15 Cyprus time.
President Anastasiadis stressed in his statements that our side “precisely acknowledges how crucial this meeting is” so, in addition to himself and the entire delegation, we go with determination and political will in order to help create those conditions for the resumption of substantive negotiations always on the basis, and I want to emphasize it, of UN resolutions, of the unanimous decisions of the National Council, of the November 25th statement, which constitute the parameters of a solution to the Cyprus problem.”
“I wish the other side comes with the same will, the same assessment, because any diversion will not only be to the detriment of Greek-Cypriots, but of the Turkish-Cypriots too,” he concluded.
