National Guard | Exercise “NIKITIS-DIMITRA 2023” currently taking place across Cyprus

The National Joint Exercise of the National Guard “NIKITIS-DIMITRA 2023” kicked off on June 9 and will end on June 15, 2023.

The theoretical examination of the National Guard General Staff’s Alert System had taken place on June 5-9, 2023 at a Staff level. This activity aimed at the gradual mobilization of the Units and defence- and security-related state agencies and services, under the coordination of the Central Emergency Policy Planning Service of the Ministry of Defence, so that the National Guard can reach a maximum level of readiness to undertake a mission.

According to a relevant announcement, this is a large-scale exercise and will be conducted throughout the free territory of Cyprus, with the participation of Commands, Formations, Tactical Groups, and Units of the National Guard.

The exercise will focus on decision-making processes, their conversion into instructions and orders in a period of tension, crisis, and operations, the provision of Logistics support as well as the conduct of small- and medium-scale objects without live fire in scenarios simulating real conditions.

The entire personnel of the National Guard participates in the exercise, while reservists and national guards have been invited to participate in certain parts. State agencies and services involved in providing support to the National Guard also participate in the exercise under the coordination of the Central Emergency Policy Planning Service.
