A murder attempt against a 37-year-old Greek Cypriot took place on Tuesday 09/02 in the area of Halepianes in Tseri.
According to information related to the case, while the 37-year-old was driving his vehicle, two people on a motorcycle with their faces covered fired 7 bullets at him.
According to the 37-year-old, the police rushed to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation and detect the shells – believed to be seven – as well as other evidence that will help them in the case.
At the scene, neither shells nor other evidence related to the criminal act were found, while the Police officially state that they are investigating all possible scenarios.
A similar case occurred in the village of Gerasa in April 2017, when after a deadly attack, the Police did not find any traces of gunshots or shells at the spot.
Without being able to know exactly what happened, since police investigations are underway with all the scenarios being investigated, it is worth referring to devices mounted on weapons to collect the shells.
When an automatic rifle fires, the shell is ejected from the side of the weapon which it fires at a distance of one to five meters. There are specific devices which are mounted on each type of weapon and collect the shells that the weapon ejects.
Such devices, which may be a simple net, are also used by conscientious hunters who do not want to leave their shells in nature. They are also used by snipers who want to cover their tracks.
These devices are found at affordable prices and can be purchased by anyone online.
