Lebanon | Energy Crisis Deepens – VIDEO
Defence Redefined

Lebanon faces the worst energy crisis in decades. The government has imposed extensive power cuts across the country to maintain scarce fuel reserves.

The crisis has sparked long queues at gas stations and massive blackouts, which have generated violent clashes between people desperate for fuel. These tensions over short fuel supplies have led to deadly violence involving weapons, knives and even grenades, according to the country’s news media.

In this context, the Iran-backed Hezbollah will start importing gasoline and diesel from Iran. In June, Nasrallah said that all the logistics needed for such a move were ready and thus, Hezbollah would be able to proceed, bypassing the central bank in order to avoid violating US sanctions.

Nasrallah also said that Iran had assured him that it would stand by Lebanon and blamed the Lebanese government and US influence for not responding to the Iranian offer.
