Under Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Governmental Council for National Security (KYSEA) convened on Tuesday to select the new Chiefs of the Hellenic Police and the Fire Service.
By the decision of KYSEA, Major General Dimitrios Mallios was chosen as the new Chief of the Hellenic Police, who is promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General. Lazaros Mavropoulos was awarded the rank of General of the Hellenic Police and the title of Honorary Chief of the Corps.
Lieutenant General Theodoros Vayas was chosen to serve as the Chief of the Fire Service. Retired Chief of the Force, Lt. Gen. Georgios Pournaras, was awarded the rank of General (ret.) and the title of Honorary Chief of the Fire Service.
