Five years after imposing restrictions on arms exports to Turkey, Norway has decided to accept Ankara’s arms applications.
Representatives of US and Iraqi governments as well as the military of the two countries met in Baghdad for the first round of talks aimed at ending the presence of the international military coalition in Iraq.
The coalition was formed in 2014 when the US returned to Iraq to deal with ISIS jihadists, after leaving the country in 2011. Today, ISIS has been virtually eliminated from Iraq and Baghdad has repeatedly called for the withdrawal of foreign troops.
Since mid-October, US military facilities have been targeted by an organization called the Islamic Resistance of Iraq, which has been carrying out attacks in connection with the war in Gaza.
According to the Pentagon, there have been more than 150 attacks with dozens injured. The group claims revenge for US support for Israel.
According to Euronews, there are approximately 2,500 US troops in Iraq.
