An important step for the diplomatic relations of Armenia and Azerbaijan is underway with the demarcation of their common border.
According to CNN Greece, the demarcation is taking place, hoping that it will prevent a new conflict between the two countries.
The Ministries of Interior of the two countries announced that groups of experts are proceeding to designate the coordinates based on a geodetic study.
Armenia, on the other hand, made it clear that the transfer of any part of the sovereign territory of Armenia to Baku will not proceed during this process.
The purpose of the effort is to stabilize the fragile balances of the two countries and, above all, to avoid the outbreak of a new war.
It is recalled that, in March, Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, had accepted Baku’s request to return four border villages, which had been occupied by Yerevan’s forces during the 1990 war.
Hundreds of Armenian citizens reacted to this move with demonstrations on the border with Azerbaijan, who fear that their homes will come under Baku’s control.
New protests also broke out today, Tuesday, near Lake Sevan and in the town of Nogeberian.
