The US 5th Fleet released a video of Iranian fire on the Greek-owned ship, an attack that was finally prevented thanks to the intervention of the US Navy.

The serious incident occurred in the Gulf of Oman, when a ship belonging to Iran attempted to seize two tankers, one of which was Greek-owned.

According to an update from the US 5th Fleet’s Central Naval Command, the Iranians opened fire near the coast of Oman, with both attacks taking place in international waters.

As reported by Reuters, the shootings took place on the Richmond Voyager, a large crude oil tanker, which is owned by Greece and belongs to the US Chevron, while sailing under the flag of the Bahamas.

Specifically, the US Navy said it intervened to prevent Iran from seizing two commercial tankers in the Gulf of Oman on Wednesday, the latest in a series of seizures or attacks on ships in the region since 2019.

Both incidents took place in the Gulf, in the waters between Iran and Oman.

The Richmond Voyager’s passengers and cargo were not affected by the incident, with the tanker sailing to its destination from the United Arab Emirates to Saudi Arabia.
