Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulidis will pay a visit to the United States at the invitation of his US counterpart Anthony Blinken, with whom he will hold talks at the State Department on February 1st.
Mr. Kasoulides will leave for the US on January 30 and contacts in Washington will take place on February 1-2. Negotiations are currently underway to finalize all contacts with other US government officials as well as other officials, such as senators.
Mr. Kasoulides’s contacts with Mr. Blinken and other US officials are expected to focus on Cyprus-US bilateral relations, the Cyprus issue, energy issues in the Eastern Mediterranean region, and other regional and international issues.
Mr. Kasoulides will also have a first meeting with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, on Monday, January 24, in Brussels, where he will attend a meeting of the EU Foreign Ministers Council.
The meeting will be held on the occasion of the assumption of duties by Mr. Kasoulides as Foreign Minister and it is expected to focus on the discussion of, among other things, the Cyprus issue as well as other issues concerning Cyprus and the EU Council of Foreign Ministers.
