On Monday, October 9, 2023, the signing ceremony of the General Support Vessel “PERSEAS” handover to the Hellenic Navy took place at the Salamis Naval base.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikos Dendias, the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS), General Konstantinos Floros, the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice-Admiral Ioannis Drymousis, and the Chief of the Navy, Vice-Admiral Dimitrios Eleftherios Kataras.

The ship is yet another donation of Vice-Admiral (ret.) Panos Laskaridis, following several ship donations to the Hellenic Navy, such as the Naval Cadet Training Ship “KYKNOS” and the General Support Vessels “ATLAS 1”, “HERAKLIS” and “AIAS”, which reinforce the Fleet and are already very important units in the support of naval operations.

In his greeting, the Minister of National Defence mentioned, among other things, that he feels a special honor and great joy to be present at the signing ceremony of the General Support Ship “PERSEAS” handover to the Hellenic Navy and expressed the undivided gratitude of the Hellenic Armed Forces of the country and the Greek society to the great donor.

Vice Admiral (ret.) Panos Laskaridis, after thanking the Minister, emphasized his love for the Hellenic Navy and added that he considers it the duty of every Greek to contribute, based on his capabilities, to the homeland and to society as a whole.
