Special reference to the 3 + 1 cooperation scheme can be found in the Joint US-Greek Declaration published after the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the two countries.
As is characteristically emphasized in the joint statement, Greece and the USA express their desire to continue and strengthen their cooperation within the framework of the 3 + 1 scheme.
“The two sides reiterated their desire to continue and strengthen their cooperation in various fields under the 3 + 1 scheme (Cyprus, Greece, Israel and the United States), which began in Jerusalem in March 2019. Furthermore, “this cooperation can contribute to the promotion of peace, stability, security and prosperity in the Eastern Mediterranean and the wider region,” the joint statement said.
At the same time, Greece and the United States reaffirmed their common belief that maritime issues should be resolved peacefully and in accordance with international law. “The United States welcomed Greece’s reaffirmed readiness to work with other countries in the region to reach maritime delimitation agreements through dialogue and in accordance with international law. The United States and Greece have also reiterated their commitment to strengthening their close cooperation as NATO allies, using all appropriate means at their disposal to ensure stability and security in the wider region.”
Finally, the USA and Greece reiterated their support for the accession of all the countries of the Western Balkans to European and transatlantic institutions, while the effort of Greece for this purpose was underlined with the Prespa agreement.
