The Georgian security services seized a shipment of explosives originating from Odessa while crossing the country’s territory towards Moscow.
According to Euronews, the minivan had passed through Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey on January 19. The explosives were found inside two modified electric vehicle batteries during a vehicle check.
The counter-terrorism agency revealed that 7 people from Georgia, 3 from Ukraine, and 2 from Armenia were involved in importing the explosives into Georgia, transporting them within the country and in the Russian Federation (in a container), and later placing them in another container, Batsa Magellanze, Director of the Security Service of Georgia, noted.
The Georgian authorities believe that if the attempted terrorist act on Russian soil had been successful, Russia would have blamed Georgia.
The explosives weighed 14 kilograms and included a large quantity of C4 plastic explosives, detonators, and special explosive devices.
In fact, the said devices were preset.
Georgian authorities have named Andrei Sarasindze, a Ukrainian with Georgian roots, as the mastermind, who has also been a candidate for Volodymyr Zelensky’s Servants of the People party.
