The French “Auvergne” frigate has docked at the port of Larnaca since Saturday in the framework of the French navy’s operations in the Eastern Mediterranean.

As Sozos Christos Theodoulou, Honorary Consul of France in Larnaca, told CNA, “the French navy, with its frigates, conducts regular patrols in the wider Eastern Mediterranean region, aiming both at the general security and at strengthening the military cooperation with the Cypriot army and other partners in the region.”

He added that the French multi-role frigate “Auvergne” has been at the port of Larnaca since Saturday and will depart tomorrow, as part of the French navy’s operations in the Eastern Mediterranean. It is expected to arrive at the port of Limassol in May, escorted by two other vessels and the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier.

It is noted that the frigate has a displacement of 6000 tons, a length of 140 meters and a beam of 20 meters. It can carry a crew of up to 150 people, while its maximum speed is 27 knots, that is, 50 km/h.
