The President of the Republic, Nikos Anastasiadis, gave a long speech during the European Council meeting in Brussels, during which he informed the Heads of State and Government of the EU member states about the situation prevailing in Cyprus due to Turkey’s illegal actions in the EEZ of the Republic of Cyprus and its threats to open and settle the enclosed city of Varosia.
This is stated in a written statement by the Government Spokesman, Kyriakos Kousios, noting that the President of the Republic will give a press conference today at 12 noon (Brussels time) at the Offices of the Permanent Representation in Brussels for the discussions that took place during the meeting and the Conclusions reached.
In his statement, Mr. Kousios points out that the European Council meeting, during which the strategic EU-Turkey relationship was discussed and the Conclusions of the Summit on this issue were drawn, ended after midnight.
