Twelve Turkish soldiers died after being exposed to methane fumes during an operation last Sunday (6 July 2025) in a cave in northern Iraq, the Turkish Ministry of Defence has announced.

At least ten people were killed and sixty others were injured in the mass attacks launched by Russia in Ukraine after Kerch Bridge bombings.
Several cities in Ukraine were left without power or water and several people were killed in Russian missile strikes in more than 12 Ukrainian cities this morning.
Russian President, Vladimir Putin, said today that Ukraine had carried out “terrorist acts” against Russia and pledged to react forcefully if they continue.
In televised comments, Putin said Moscow had launched long-range missile strikes against Ukraine’s energy, military and telecommunications infrastructure today in retaliation for an attack on a vital bridge linking Russia to the annexed Crimean peninsula that took place at the weekend.
“It is obvious that the Ukrainian secret services ordered, organized and carried out the terrorist attack aimed at destroying critical political infrastructure of Russia,” Putin said referring to the bridge blast.
Ukrainian officials were exultant after the explosion, but Kiev has not claimed responsibility.
At the same time, Belarus is increasing its involvement in the war as the country’s President, Alexander Lukashenko, declared that a regional military force is being jointly formed with Russia.
