Nikos Michailidis, a Greek professor of Anthropology and Greek culture at the University of Missouri, spoke on the SIGMA broadcast “Protoselido” about the Turkish aggression, the potential of a hot episode and the current situation of the Turkish army.

Mr. Michailidis described as wrong the view that Turkey is carrying out aggressive actions as a communication trick, citing as an example the invasion of the Turkish army in Syria.

In his statements, among others, Professor Nikos Michailidis referred to the Cyprus-Greece Unified Defence Doctrine, stating that: “However, I believe that the UDD has potential in the coming years and should clearly be in the news. Of course, the new defence technologies provide a lot of possibilities today, therefore, an extension of this doctrine will be to the benefit of both Greece and Cyprus.”

Regarding the potential of a hot episode, the professor replied: “Look, let me tell you something that may sound strange to some people in Greece and Cyprus. In recent decades we have become addicted to propaganda that tells us that the Turkish army is a powerful mechanism that can do anything. We saw it in Syria, we saw it in other areas that are actually fighting with proxies.”

Furthermore, Mr. Michailidis said: “From information I have from discussions with deported Turkish Officers living in the US, but also observing what is happening on the ground, I must tell you that the Turkish army is in a state of disintegration and disorganization, the hierarchy has been completely disrupted and this, along with other elements, leads us to the conclusion that the Turkish army is not in a position to carry out a victorious armed struggle against the Greek armed forces.”
