An alarm was sounded on Monday afternoon in the buffer zone in ​​Agios Dometios, Nicosia.

According to information, the Turkish occupation forces proceeded to install a metal post on an uninhabited house in the buffer zone with a rotating camera and antenna. The incident caused the strong reaction of the United Nations and the National Guard.

According to the government spokesman, Constantinos Letymbiotis, this is a severe ongoing violation of the buffer zone, confirming that on Monday afternoon, a number of soldiers of the Turkish occupation forces entered the buffer zone, in the area of ​​Agios Dometios, and installed a metal post with a rotating camera and antenna on an uninhabited house, known as “Maria’s House”.

The government spokesman noted that in the previous days, the occupation forces had also proceeded to the electricity wire of the said house in support of the above installation. After the installation was completed, Turkish soldiers left the buffer zone.

The incident is taken to be a severe ongoing violation of the buffer zone, said Mr. Letymiotis, adding that the Government is in constant contact with the peacekeeping force to restore the situation.

According to information from CNA, the incident took place around 16:15, while members of the United Nations went to the region to restore the status quo, which the Turkish side denies.

Mobilization of the occupation army is observed in the area, while National Guard forces have also rushed to the scene. According to the same information, this is a series of similar actions, which have been observed lately along the green line.
