The new synthesis of the cabinet was announced a few hours ago, where the candidate to take over the portfolio of the newly instituted Ministry of Civil Protection, Mr. Evangelos Apostolakis, did not accept the proposal made by the Prime Minister.
In his statements, Mr. Apostolakis underlined that there were two conditions in order to accept the proposal: first, to have an independent ministry, to which Mr. Mitsotakis agreed and which was observed, and second, to have cross-party support, which does not exist. Therefore, a proposal without cross-party support regarding a national issue cannot be accepted on his behalf.
Regarding the Ministry of National Defence, Mr. Alkiviadis Stefanis is withdrawn and replaced by the former Deputy Minister of Civil Protection, Mr. Nikos Hardalias.
Finally, as far as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is concerned, there are no radical changes except for that of Mr. Andreas Katsaniotis, who is taking over as Deputy Foreign Minister of Diaspora in place of Mr. Vlasis.
