The Israeli government approved the ceasefire agreement and the release of hostages.
According to AFP, the tentative agreement could include:
- A five-day ceasefire with a ceasefire in ground fighting and restrictions on Israeli air operations over southern Gaza.
- Palestinian organizations will release 50 to 100 hostages, who will be Israeli citizens or citizens of other nationalities, but not soldiers.
- In return, 300 Palestinians, including women and children, will be released from Israeli prisons.
AFP cited unnamed Hamas and Islamic Jihad officials who also told the news agency that their organizations had agreed to the terms.
Based on the agreement, which was brokered by the US and Qatar, the first releases are expected tomorrow Thursday morning. The agreement also provides for the distribution of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian enclave.
Qatari diplomacy confirmed the conclusion of an agreement, informing that the start of the ceasefire will be announced within the next 24 hours and its duration will be four days, with a possible extension.
The Israeli Army will continue its war against Hamas after the four-day ceasefire agreed to be declared in the Gaza Strip, Benjamin Netanyahu’s government announced.
Under the agreement, hundreds of truckloads of humanitarian aid, medical supplies, and fuel are expected to enter all parts of the Gaza Strip, whenever Hamas announces.
The US President, Joe Biden, expressed satisfaction with the agreement and indicated that it is expected to lead to the return of other American hostages.
