Τhe Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority, Mohamed Staiyeh, requested the mediation of Athens by the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs, George Gerapetritis, in order to reach a truce in Gaza, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.
During the meeting they had in Ramallah, Mr. Gerapetritis, for his part, referred to the urgent need for a humanitarian pause, in order to create sustainable humanitarian corridors in Gaza.

The Greek Foreign Minister then traveled to Jerusalem and had a private meeting with his Israeli counterpart, Eli Cohen, to whom he conveyed the concerns of the Palestinian side about the ever-worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

In the meantime, the President of Israel described the negotiations with the Cypriot government as serious regarding Nicosia’s plan to provide humanitarian aid by sea to the Gaza Strip.
Isaac Herzog made these statements to the Financial Times newspaper, while he also discussed details with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, Konstantinos Kombos, who went to Israel for this purpose, at the initiative of Christodoulidis.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, Konstantinos Kombos, was received by Israeli President, Isaac Herzog, whom he thanked for the political approval of Cyprus’s proposal for the maritime humanitarian corridor for Gaza.
Mr. Kombos wrote on the ‘X’ platform that he received a warm welcome from the President of Israel, a true friend of Cyprus, with whom they exchanged views on the current situation in Gaza and the urgent need for the immediate release of all hostages.
