Afghanistan | US-UK urge citizens to leave Kabul hotels

The governments of the United States and the United Kingdom today sounded the alarm regarding a threat to the safety of Kabul hotels – especially the luxury hotel Serena – without giving details about it. However, they urged the citizens to evacuate these hotels as soon as possible and avoid nearby locations.

The nature of the threat and its origin were not clarified by the two Foreign Ministers. These hotels welcome foreign nationals – journalists, humanitarian workers and others – as well as Taliban officials, who frequently hold work meetings there.

Hotels hosting foreigners have repeatedly been the target of bloody attacks in the Afghan capital.
